Job Responsibilities:
Abt is seeking a technical director for an anticipated malaria prevention and control opportunity in Ghana. The purpose of this USAID/Ghana President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) Expansion Project is to increase coverage and use of key life-saving malaria interventions in support of Ghana National Malaria Control Program (NMCP).
Under the supervision of the Ghana Chief of Party, the Ghana Technical Director provides technical leadership over all technical activities related to malaria diagnostics, clinical case management, including prevention and care services for pregnant women.
This position is contingent on funding for an upcoming bid.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Provide direct technical assistance to the NMCP to strengthen overall malaria program management and supervision efforts.
- Directly supervises team leads in malaria diagnostics, case management, monitoring and evaluation.
- Maintains strong relationships with all malaria actors in Ghana, and contributes to coordinating interventions at the national level.
- Reviews the content of communications materials for technical accuracy.
- Achieves all technical M&E performance and Quality Control indicators in the PMP.
- Serve as acting Chief of Party when the Chief of Party is absent.
Skills Prerequisites:
Qualification requirements include the following:
- Masters Degree (minimum), Doctorate degree (desirable), in, Public Health, or other relevant field.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional work experience with significant amounts of experience directly in the diagnosis, treatment of malaria.
- Experience working with the NMCP and GHS preferable.
- Experience working with the private sector, specifically license chemical sellers is highly valuable.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and as a team leader, with the ability to accept the inputs of other team members.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication and computer skills.
- Experience with USAID and donor projects is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English.
