BUSINESS MANAGER & EDUCATION FELLOW
Founded in 2006, Springforth International School was created by two working American mothers to provide quality pre-school and primary education to the large multicultural community of East Legon, a suburb of Ghana’s vibrant capital city, Accra. The school’s mission is to provide early childhood and primary education in a nurturing, stimulating environment, helping children achieve their full potential through the development of their unique academic abilities and moral character. Since its inception, Springforth has served families from over 15 countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, Lebanon, Malta, Italy, and Canada. The Business Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage front office operations and interact with parents and visitors. The Manager will coordinate the finance and administration systems of the schools, manage and track budgets, as well as provide excellent customer service. Additionally, he/she will lead Springforth’s marketing efforts and develop communications materials for the school’s website and newsletter. Major responsibilities of the Business Manager/Education Fellow include:
• Supervise and manage the school's front office staff, including all finance and administration of staff
• Oversee and maintain finance & administration systems of schools, particularly managing and tracking budgets and expenditure
• Manage parent/client/student accounts using software and resolve billing/payment questions
• Supervise and manage procurement of good and supplies
• Support in implementing the transformation agenda and strategic plans of SFIS
The Business Manager should possess the following specific skills/qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree holders are highly encouraged.
• At least 3 to 5 years of full-time work experience
• Excellent computer literacy with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel (tables/graphs/charts/matrices) and data manipulation skills to generate reports and executive summaries
• Familiarity with accounting software and database management experience
• Native or near native level English language ability
• Demonstrated interpersonal, management, coordination, and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work with conflicting priorities
• Client focus with the ability and enthusiasm to interact with people of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
• Experience in working with or around pre-school and/or primary-aged children
• Creativity and initiative to implement new ideas for extracurricular and marketing activities
• Excellent attention to detail and superior communication skills
• High level of comfort to work with school staff of different cultural backgrounds
• Ability to take instruction with humility in a spirit of learning, apprenticeship, and professional growth • Experience living in a developing country setting is a plus
BUSINESS MANAGER PACKAGE:
• Orientation to Ghana culture and living
• One-year multiple entry visa
• Ghana visa extension costs up to two years
• A 50% subsidy of round-trip airfare and visa costs to Accra, Ghana
• Basic group accommodations during the length of the fellowship
• A local and basic living stipend to subsidize monthly personal living costs (meals, telecommunications, transportation, and incidentals)
• Health care incidentals subsidy
