Chief of Party, Ghana

We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for the Ghana ADVANCE II program, a recently released $35 million agricultural value chain program funded by USAID that will increase the competitiveness of the maize, rice and soya value chains in northern Ghana. The project will work to achieve these results through three integrated components: increased agricultural productivity in targeted commodities; increased market access and trade of targeted commodities; and strengthened local capacity for advocacy and activity implementation. The position will be based in both Tamale and Accra, and is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.

Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and technical direction for the program. Design, develop and implement strategies to improve agricultural productivity and market linkages to increase rural household incomes. Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, host country partners and other institutions and organizations to exchange information and ensure collaboration. Manage the technical input of all staff, consultants, subcontractors and project partners. Lead the design and conduct implementation of project work plans. Oversee program compliance with USAID and ACDI/VOCA policies and procedures. Oversee program administration in such areas as human resources, M&E, budget and finance.

Qualifications:
A master’s degree in economics, business, agriculture, international relations or other related field preferred, bachelor’s degree and additional years of experience also accepted. Five years of Chief of Party experience managing large (at least $10 million), complex agricultural development programs with a value chain focus; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with demonstrated expertise and seven years of Chief of Party experience. Demonstrated ability to be flexible, creative and collaborative across projects. Previous experience working in Ghana or West Africa. Strong communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to productively interact with diverse staff and a wide range of organizations. Fluent in English, written and spoken.
